Some of those celebs you see flaunting expensive things are paying Instalmentally, do not be fooled.
I will continue from where i stopped on Monday, feel free to check out the first post here to know the perspective I'm coming from.
Another way that social media has caused and is still causing problems is by raising unrealistic standards of beauty, i.e you are expected to look a certain way now before you are considered beautiful. Inside life!!! This problem is majorly among the ladies but this is not to say by any means that the guys are free or innocent of this either.
Some celebs and social media personalities in recent times have been exposed for the excessive use of photo editing apps thereby misleading the innocent public Click to tweet
Let's imagine the scenario of a young lady coming online only to be blasted with pictures of ladies with flawless skin, no blemish, no acne, no spots, just a smooth face. The effect of this is usually overwhelming with self-esteem and confidence taking the biggest hit.
Some even go as far as editing their bodies to look perfect and sleek whereas they are nothing near what they have posted. You can even come across one of your favorites celebrities on the street without being able to recognize them. Hmm Nawa o!!!
How can I rant about the "excessive editing squad" without calling out makeup artists. Some makeup artist are deceitful not only to the public but to their fellow makeup artists who see them as role models and aspire to reach such level of perfection in their artistry too. Such makeup artist come online to see the beautiful works of their favorite makeup artist and instantly feel bad that their skills hasn't improved. They will only be shocked when they realize that their faves are chronic photoshop users. (P.S there are many genuine makeup artist out there that don't follow this horrifying trend)
Social media has not only caused problems in the world today through wealth and beauty alone. Social media has also introduced certain bad behaviors to some people and has even turned some into criminals. Some people now wear what they normally wouldn't even think of wearing before, some youths are now drug addicts and some are now professional online scammers and it's all thanks to social media, the chief tutor.
Another way social media hasn't been helping is by the constant portrayal of happiness. Everyone on social media is happy, always smiling without problems, life is always good is the global social media watchword but sadly, this is not always the case. The impact of this social media watchword is more severe on people that spend more time on it. The sad reality of this is that life is no bed of roses and not everyone smiling for the camera is really happy.
In concluding this writeup I will like to say that life is beyond likes and followers and irrespective of the urge to follow these social media trends, you should DO YOU and BE YOU. If things go south from copying someone on social media you will have no one but yourself to blame. Beware no one is perfect.
