Top 10 lessons from COVID-19 Lockdown

Today I will be counting down the Top 10 lessons from Covid-19 lockdown. Sit back, grab a popcorn and relax while you read through.
  • Anything can happen

Before this pandemic life was was pretty "Normal", economies were booming, people were traveling and interacting with one another, some people were working and making money, schools were in session with some about to write their exams and all of a sudden this changed.

People started dying, families disoriented from the demise of a family member and in some cases family members, economies were crippled and people were forced to stay in isolation. Even towns with the most buzz look deserted.

At the start of the lockdown in Lagos Nigeria pictures of popular express roads were taken. If anyone had told me that Eko could be that quiet and even free of traffic I would have called the person a dreamer.
What this means is that blissful situations can turn sour at any time and bad situations can turn around for the best too.

  • Never judge anyone
We all have different levels of tolerance depending on the situation we find ourselves. Some are able to remain stable and others not so well. Click to tweet
Due to this it will be faulty to weigh your friendships during this period based on people checking up on you... Yes I said it

The fact that you have been able to utilize the situation to your advantage doesn't mean it's the same for everyone. I was reading a column in a newspaper where people were asked to share their lockdown experience, over 70%of the respondents complained of being depressed, getting overweight and general unhappiness.

This can also be the situation with that friend you are holding grudges against and instead of nursing bad thoughts on how you will dump them you can as well check up on them too. No friendship should be one sided
. I don't understand this funny love o but some people said they miss Lagos traffic, I'm definitely not one of them, are you? Click to tweet

  • We all have an innate ability or talent

This is the case of the brother reading this post now, Lol. Shebi you were thinking that you had no talent, now lockdown has given you the perfect talent ginger and your ability has been set free. Congratulations. But on a serious note I'm lowkey on this train too.

Some have discovered their culinary skills, some never knew they were marketers in the making, some didn't even know they could write and all these there made known to them during this pandemic. Can we call this lockdown a blessing in disguise? Share your thoughts
  • Nothing is wrong with you, all you needed was some time off

People have realized that nothing is actually wrong with them as against that terrible notion they carry about themselves, all they needed was some time off to plan out their lives based on what they wanted and not what was forced on them.

People are getting business ideas that can liberate their companies, some are getting to know why they are not doing well in their working place and students are also realizing why they are not really doing well at school, even psychological healings are taking place and all that was needed was a little time off.

  • Nobody should blast me on this one of but Doing nothing is exhausting

Some of us are known to be alenu ma' Jeun. This means someone that eats very little food even when food is in abundance. I didn't realize I could eat this way and I am beyond shooked to say the least, my brother even said that my stomach is now a bottomless pit, ouch I'm in sifia pain right now.
  • Some families can be restored
One of the things this lockdown has been able to achieve is family rejuvenation.
There is no doubt that lack of time has been one the causes of failing marriages in recent times. Click to tweet
Everyone is busy working and the family suffers the effect of this lose of bonding time. Couples are getting to understand themselves better and children are also enjoying love and care from their parents. I have met people that believe that their parents don't care about them but thankfully they now know better. Yippee

  • Some people are plain opportunist

This period like I said in one of my previous posts is a time to show love, care and also give back to people if you can afford to do so. Sadly some are using this period to oppress and exploit.

They major opportunist are Market Women who I called out here, our telecommunication companies that are seriously cashing out on costumers since they know we have no choice, boredom is real and communication is key.... Rhymes!!! Banks are also on this train too. I will keep the remaining lockdown opportunist to myself before someone blows whistle untop my head.

  • Never underestimate anyone, don't ever ever try it

Okay that was a bit too much but seriously never underestimate anyone. While some people dem have been on the mission to milk people dry, some are making it a duty to help people. Some individuals have been organizing giveaways left right and center and  even though I still never win kobo i'm happy that people are actually doing this.

We have also seen individuals and organizations take to the streets to distribute food items to people. Friends are even supporting each themselves with airtime and data transfers and this is amazing. All in all lockdown has launched the inner philanthropism in some people and I believe this kind gesture is here to stay, hopefully.
  • People can fully turn to God

It is no longer news that since the beginning of this outbreak different vaccines have been made and some are still in progress but so far none has been able to successfully cure humans of the virus.

The president of one of the countries that witnessed massive deaths due to the Corona virus outbreak was seen crying and appealing for the prayers of the general public, he stated that the situation has gone beyond the control of even the government and prayer was the only thing left to try.

We have also seen also seen prophets, pastors and even celebrities go to the mountain to seek the face of the lord though some usually go with a full photography team to capture the "intense prayer session" for the gram. I am optimistic that the lord will answer our prayers concerning this pandemic.

  • And lastly Wishes come true (reminisce on this)
